Lenard and Judith Nel
Supporting Children and Young People with Neurodiversity.

Judith in her role as School Principal and Len in his role as Psychologist, have served young people and their families across several decades. Their focus has been on those with profound physical and intellectual disabilities, affected by neurological conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nerves, causing physical and cognitive impairments.
They will discuss Supporting Children and Young People with Neurodiversity – both in the context of a special school, as well as in mainstream schools. They will summarise the learning and behavioural characteristics of people with Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Syndrome, as well as Developmental Trauma.
Intervention is typically specialised, involving psychologists, therapists and educators to address their learning and behavioural needs.
